New FingerPaints Professional Artistic Nail Collection ~ Swatches & Review

Many of you have probably heard by now that SallyBeauty has redone their entire Finger Paints Line. Launched in Jan 2014, the line has over 90 "stylishly saturated shades" that range from glitters, metallics, shimmers, toppings and even soak-off gel formulas. The newly formulated collection is meant to provide exceptional wear and resist fading. Designed by nail techs, they were created 3-free for richly pigmented for intense shades and high shine, the pro brush was created to allow flawless, one coat coverage.
Art you Wondering? I wasn't sure how opaque this glitter was going to be as it appeared fine in the bottle. I tested it on a piece of paper and decided with some thick coats, it should cover the nail just fine so opted for no base coat. The below is two thick coats which seemed to cover very nicely. This baby really glowed, especially in direct sunlight

Go Baroque - First off, what a clever name! This gold shimmer is chalked full of pink and gold hex glitter. It really had a brilliance on the nail and was not as goopy as I thought it would be when looking at the bottle. This is two coats.

Colorful Collage - I wasn't quite sure what base color to put this on top of and then thought Duh! Barbie friggin' hot pink or two coats of Color Club Flamingo and one coat of Colorful Collage. Um yes, I will be using this little combo in the near future. While there are a lot of large, hex toppers out there, this is still a great choice to add to their collection. Never. Enough. Holo. Glitters.

Where Art Renoir? - This is a black jelly a generous amount of silver glitter. It covered by nicely in two coats. A girlier way to achieve that vamp look.

The brush was a bit interesting, slightly angled, I was worried as I have small nails and these "one coat" brushes aren't always kind to me, but it did find I had no trouble and was able to get a lot of product on the brush itself for full coverage.. Each formula went on nicely with a good dry time. None required more than two coats and were very opaque which seems to match the initial selling points of the line.

I'm also impressed with the range, finishes and colors, also the fact that you can pick up the entire collection when you are in Sally's as compared to waiting for single collections to come out. Each retails for $5.29 and is available at SallyBeauty and SallyBeauty.com. While the release says March, I already spotted the display at my local store and thought they did a nice job.

Have you picked up any of the new polishes? What do you think?

Sweater Weather

Greetings girlies! While it's actually pretty nice here today, spring in the Rockies is very interesting. One day it's a wonderful 60 degrees, the next we have two inches of snow. I really wear most of my sweaters this time of year which made me think, how can I start having fun with the buttload of MoYou plates I gifted myself?
 I thought Sally Hansen All Yarned up was the perfect start. I used two coats of China Glaze Sunset Sail underneath so it would be easier to remove then two thick coats of All Yarned Up.
I thought one of the images from MoYou Professional plate 01 would complete the look so stamped with Snow Me White. I use topcoat to smooth things down before I stamped. I really liked how this turned out.
Do you have other ways to make your mani look like yarn or a sweater?

Color Secrets - New Vegan Polish Swatches and Review

Color Secrets has just launched their brand new, vegan, 3-free and cruelty free polish line. Made in the good 'ole U.S. of A. High impact, high shine, uses mica powder as an alternative to animal parts to create finishes.
First up - Blue Lagoon. This had a nice brush. A sheer turquoise shimmer. This is three coats with no topcoat. I could have gotten away with two coats if I was more careful with the amount. Application was nice and the dry time was good.

Some Like it Hot - Now THIS is my kind of pink. Neon with that blurple shimmer. It was much thicker than Blue Lagoon. I used two coats and it went on smoothly. As with all neons, the dry time was very quick. I also noticed that this polish was extremely shiny without a top coat.

Currently there are 80 shades available at Walgreens now or 72 shades at www.ColorSecretPro.com. they will be expanding to 121 in March and 144 on the site in April. Made by JB Cosmetics, each bottle retails for $3.99. Overall, I think these are a great price for a vegan, cruelty free, high-quality lacquer and there was a high shine to the polishes.

Let's Have a Conversation Heart Cutie Pies

Ah Valentine's Day! I spent a Pinteresty night trying to create cute heart cake pops only to realize I got distracted at the store and never bought sticks! I told everyone they were delicious cake truffles ;). The container was gone so I'm assuming they were tasty even stick less.

I wanted to create so many lovey dovey manis this year but life got in the way. Here's the one I did do! Conversation hearts of course. China Glaze Lemon Fizz and Tart-y for the Party, Sinful Skylark and Sally Hansen Lasting Lily for the bases.
I then stamped the red sayings from Bundle Monster 425 and the conversation hearts from 421 with Tart-y for the Party, Sinful Sugar N Spice and Sweet Nothing. Did you get any of these little guys for V-Day.
Also thought I'd share my mister of a Gunner wasn't too thrilled when I tied my heart scarf on him =D.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

I've been a very bad girl and pretty made the most epic haul of my life, I haven't decided if I should post, although it could be a good way to self-shame me into saving some dolla bills. I've had the bragging rights of winning a few football pools and was fortunate enough to receive a nice bonus for Christmas. Included in the goodies was my first large order from Born Pretty Store. I'm such a fan of their water decals.

I have very round nails and stickers are really not my friends as they tend to come right up after a few hours or so. These water decals are the perfect alternative and stay nice, smooth and flat. I wanted to do my first Valentine's Day nails with some of them. This is two coats of Barielle Pink Flip-Flops. This is a gorgeous bubble gum pink that probably could have been opaque in one coat. I did two to even things out. I then used the water decals with chocolate strawberries and cupcakes.

Lastly, I used the first stamping plate I've purchased from them to add the tips and flower accents. This is plate QA51 and so far it's stamped beautifully with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Mochachino. Do you use water decals?

Polish Me Silly Grape Intentions

I have a few polishes from Polish Me Silly (formerly Lush Lacquer). When I came across the thermal color-changing polishes I threw a few minis in my cart. Grape Intentions looks like a sweet shift between purple and pink. This is two coats of the polish on top of a basecoat with a topcoat.
 Standard bottle shot
 Purple = Cold
I was really hoping for the purple to be around most of the time but this shifts pink with warmth, I always have freezing hands so imagine my surprise when they weren't usually purple. I could have used another coat or two as there was still a pretty visible nail line.
Pink = Warm

I created a stamping decal with Bundle Monster Plate 414 with Color Club Abyss, On the Rocks, Avon Fuchsia Fun and Grape Intentions. I didn't wait long enough to push it on the nail and tore it so sorry for the bad shots.
While the polish was pretty and interesting with all the color changes, it did bleed a little. I may try this again with a pale color of undies and see how well the color shifts. You can purchase the mini bottles from the Etsy store for $5.50 a piece.
