Shimmer Polish Review ~ Kim

I'm so excited to show off my first Shimmer Polish. When this lot of glitter heaven arrived in my mailbox I sifted through them countless times to try and decide which one to use first. Kim took the cake. I tend to try and use a color completely opposite of any previous mani and this one was perfect. The large blue and silver hex glitter play nicely with the purple, blue and silver mini hex glitters and a few sparse turquoise square glitters.

This is three coats of Kim. All the glitters spread nicely and didn't seem to spend more of their time hanging out on one part of the nail. I was also surprised at how flat and smooth this was even before a generous coat of China Glaze Fast Forward.
For the accent nail I used three coats of China Glaze Coconut Kiss and stamped subtle flowers from BM-316 and Color Club Fashion Addict. My nails are glowing with this pretty and I can already tell it may affect my driving in direct sunlight :O. Make sure to catch up with Shimmer Polish on her blog as well.

Kim was provided to me for review.

My Custom Franken Femme

So the lovely Becca from Franken Femme put a call out to Bloggers on the Polish-aholics Anonymous FB group to see if anyone would be interested in a custom polish for review. Well of course she had a ton of takers and I was one of the last - thankfully she was kind enough to include me in on the franken fun. As soon as I unwrapped her sweetly wrapped package I was intrigued. She took my draw to square glitter, holo, jelly, pink and POW created this very "me" polish.
Indoor
She provided the following description of her concoction: suspension base, white cream base, pink cream polish, black and white square glitter, hot pink matte hexes and holo glitter.

I used two thick coats which gave a nice jelly finish and a barely there visible nail line. The glitter goods spread out evenly and the holo makes a saucy cameo. Overall this is a pretty polish that is all Freshie bay-bee! Tune into Becca's blog for many more creations.

Full of Heart

Presidents' Day - one of the few randoms I get off that most people don't because of where I work. Sorry for those of you who had to go back to the grind like regular :(. This was the mani I wore for Valentine's Day . One of those successes you imagine in your brain that actually sorta comes to life. The base is two coats of Sephora Hello Kitty Bubble Gum, a pale pink cream that was opaque in two coats. I then stamped the heart french tip design with China Glaze Ruby Pumps from plate m56.

After I let it dry, I then used Orly guides and a quick two coats of Zoya Alegra. Such a gorgeous polish - described as a purple metallic on Zoya's site, but it leaned more pink for me with a gorgeous glass fleck shimmer. On my accent nails I stamped the bow from with Ruby Pumps from plate QA3 and added a random pearl I bought in a pack on eBay.
I enjoyed a home cooked meal with the honey and he bought me jewelry - win! I also made these cute Valentine's with the pups (and yes Champ ate the first bag of chocolate when I was in the shower, luckily he was alright and the Vet said he should be OK because it was milk and not dark chocolate little shit). Hope you all enjoyed the day ~

Valentine's Day Ruffle Manicure

February 14th is TOMORROW? Seriously? I feel like it was just Christmas? That shit is cray cray. Thankfully I got a head start on my Valentine's Day crafts and manis. I have only done one ruffle mani from the wonderfully fantastical Chalkboard Nails so I thought I'd whip up another for this holiday. I feel like unless your in love or out of love there are plenty of ways to celebrate or anti-celebrate Valentine's Day!

I started with one thick coat of my go to white, Sinful Snow Me White and then dotted with my Born Pretty Store dotting tool, the pink is China Glaze Dance Baby and the red China Glaze Hey Sailor. I was a bit distracted doing this downstairs with my pups and babe so it wasn't as neat as the first one but the colors are festive and I got a little smirk every time I looked at this.
I used two coats of Dance Baby on my index finger, then stamped the cupid image with Hey Sailor from plate m34. He came out better on my other hand but *gasp* I have an uber nubbin I was ashamed of sharing. I added a Born Pretty Store heart-shaped rhinestone and finito. I say Viva La Valentine's and Viva La Ruffle Mani!

Revlon Girly & Accidental Cupcakes

Welcome to the weekend dolls! So I had been scouring the earth similar to that of Columbus for Revlon Girly and Heavenly after I saw the bottle shots posted on Pinterest. Similar to Whimsical an undeniable urge came over me and I would not stop until it was MINE muwahahahha. Thankfully when I dropped into Walgreens a few weeks back there they were sparkling just for me.

I wanted to do a little nail art since there were already a ton of great swatches out there. I free-handed the base of my nails with two coats of Zoya Savita a vampy matte purple with a pink shimmer that makes an appearance with topcoat.
I then stamped stripes from my new QA2 plate with China Glaze Emotion. I used Orly's french tip guides. Since I was a tad sloppy I left them there while I took off the excess polish above it with remover. With the guide in tact I did two coats of Revlon Girly. I used three full coats on my accent nails. Cupcakes anyone? I adore cupcake nails and have never done them so this was an unintentional success for cupcake nails, too bad that is not even close to what I was going for = /. Still pretty!

The Makeup Store - Siw

Can you believe this little beauty has been in my untrieds for over a year and a half? I used a base coat and then three coats of The Makeup Store's Siw. A nice blue holo. I should have used a ridge filler on my pinkie because you can see it really badly. Evenly though I waited between each of the coats, this was extremely streaky and I still had some bald spots. I may have to invest in a holo base in the future but it was still linear holo gold.

For accent nails I used two coats of my fave mannequin hands polish - Ulta It's Nude to Me. I then stamped with Siw and Milani 3D holo in Hi-Tech. It didn't stamp very well but was pretty with the blue. The image is from BM-322.
