So Fuzzing Cool

Even thinking about a sweater right now makes me want to strip out of my skin, it's been so dang hot in Colorado! Aren't we supposed to be this perfect mountain getaway from the hellish heat of summer? When did we start sweating our days through 92 degree afternoons? While I couldn't bear a long sleeve, I am wearing Sally Hansen's new Fuzzy Coat polishes.

I wanted to compliment and contrast with the colors of Fuzz Sea. I started with two coats of Icing True Blue and two coats of China Glaze Sunshine Pop followed by one thick coat of Fuzz Sea. I really like the complexity of this texture polish and the bright colors of the texture polish, however, on close inspection the ends of the glitters poked little holes in the polish.
I'm super weird about certain shapes and thinks, bubble, honeycombs etc. so this kind of freaked me out. Next time I may wait overnight before adding the texture polish. I wore this for about 5 days, I can tell you she's a real beeyotch to get off, even with undies.
To prove just how bright it's been, here's my poor Gunner Bear squinting into the sun, he needs doggles! What do you think of the texture polishes by Sally Hansen?

Love glam things? Silly question I know. I am a definite fan of the glam, especially when it comes to nails. Hpnotiq has decided to harness glam things ranging from makeup to you got it - rockin' manis. From now until July 28th 2013, Hpnotiq wants you to show them how you GLAM LOUDER to win fab prizes! Entries can be pictures you snap yourself or images you find online, although I know most of you will probably submit something original because that's what we beauty bloggers do best.

I ask, are you Ready to Bling It On!? Here are the glamorous prizes that are up for grabs:
  • One year of manis/pedis worth up to $1,200, a $1,000 gift card to Sephora or Ulta, AND a chance to win the grand prize trip for you and three friends to go shopping with a celebrity in Los Angeles!
  • Even better - the grand prize winner will star in a professional photo shoot for the chance to be in a real Hpnotiq Ad!
Want to enter? Hpnotiq’s Glammest Nails Challenge is going on now, but the entry period for the glammest nails ends at 11:59:59 a.m. EST on June 30th. For this challenge, Hpnotiq wants you to show them the glammest nails, nail art or nail finish that you’ve ever seen or done. I decided to create some glam nails of my own. I used a sponge with three coats of Sinful Snow Me White and Barielle Ocean Breeze to create a gradient followed by three coats of Icing Dancing in the Moonlight, a very sheer baby blue jelly with scattered holo glitter. I had no idea it glowed in the dark until walking up my stairs - fun! I then stamped the bottom of the nail with China Glaze Avalanche and the swirl or Hpnotiq ;) images from konad plate m56.

Jamberry Nails Review

*Sample provided for Review*

After lots of trial and error, the proprietary nail wraps of Jamberry Nails launched in late 2010. The DIY, at-home application and incredible variety of designs caught on quickly and sales soared. A new era of nail art was born.

Gone are the days of nails that chip and flake after only a few days! Gone are the days of mani/pedis that take all afternoon and most of your cash, too! Jamberry Nails arm you with style and confidence, while demanding very little of your time or money.

I was sent a few single Jamberry Nails decals for review. Two were a solid color and the third a true ROY G BIV which matched me new mini Color Club purple - Disco Dress - to a T. As instructed by the card provided, I followed these steps:
    • Clean unpolished nails with alcohol
    • Match nail (finger or toe) to the wrap that best fits
    • Peel off wrap, warm with blow dryer for 10-15 seconds until soft & flexible
    • When warm, press wrap onto nail, apply firm pressure around edges to adhere to nail. Use rubber cuticle pusher to seal the wrap around base of cuticle.
    • Trim top with scissors, file off remaining wrap using downward motion to remove excess.
    • Apply heat & pressure to wrap again until bonded to the nail
While I don't have a rubber cuticle pusher, I do have one of those gem picker-uppers (yes I realize this is not the official name) it worked alright considering I didn't realize I had to have a specific tool to complete this. The side edges and cuticle went down nicely but I had some trouble with a wrinkle in the tip. Not sure if it was the error of first application, only having one to try or something else. I even applied heat to it a few more times to see if I could smooth it out with no luck. After sleeping on it, an edge hadn't quite been put down and had to come off. It removed alright with the application of heat. The site says it won't leave any reside but there was a tinge on my tip that easily came off with remover.
I decided to give it another go, the sides seemed to work better the second time around but that same wrinkle reared it's little head again. I would like to see these on someone else's nails that aren't quite as rounded as mine. For me, I just couldn't get this little sucker to lie flat.
It says it can last up to two weeks on nails, which is 4 days longer than the proclaimed length of Sally Hansen and six weeks on toes. While I am pretty impressed that the site has "over 250 designs" - I thought the online product info. was a tad lacking. When you go to order a design it simply says $15. Not sure if that includes 1, 10 or 20? It also didn't specify in the FAQ. I do love the fact that they have a "Jamberry Juniors" collection for the littles! You can also order custom wraps, think Russel Brand Face via Katy Perry pre-split.

Let's recap

  • Huge range of custom designs, some intricate, some simple
  • Long-lasting
  • An added layer of durability with the heat application
  • Easy to remove
  • Having the ability to order direct online if you don't want to hold a party
  • Great for "mommy and me" manis and custom ideas
  • Price, they are a little high for my wallet, but if you host a party - you'll probably see a decent discount
  • Wrinkles, at least on my nail
  • Bit of residue, which I wouldn't mind, but the site specifically says it won't have any
Jamberry nails can be purchased direct from their website or find yourself a consultant like Ms. Shea who sent me her samples (let me know if you'd like her contact info.).

Three single nail samples were provided to me for review.

It's Ma Birthday Mani Complete with an OPI Cake

When I saw Sparkling Garbage in the store, I knew she was the one. Like that settle down and buy a farm one ;). This made her the perfect base for my birthday mani! I started with two coats of Sephora Hello Kitty Polish in Minty. I then added two coats of Orly Sparkling Garbage. On my index finger I stamped the roses from BM323 and Color Club Flamingo. My accent nail was two coats of Prelude to a Kiss stamped with Flamingo and MM06. I then used my largest Born Pretty Store dotting tool to create a heart with minty followed by Sparkling Garbage.

I know mint has been all the rage but I seriously can't get enough of it! This is the perfect way to ring in the last of my 20's - Wagh by the way! I had a great week full of celebration and spoiledness from my darling husband - some sequin cowboy boots are also on the way.
It was also full of sugar including this killer cake from my bestest Emily! Notice the letters are my initials instead of OPI =D. I'm a happy, albeit chunkier, girl.

Heard it thru the Grapevine

June, the sun shines a little brighter, the skies a little bluer, and this Gemini was birthed into the world. I really like being a June baby for the sole fact that it's summer and I usually get to do something outdoors. This birthday extravaganza started with our annual wine festival. The husb is not a fan so all the more reason for me to enjoy it with one of my girlies. My friend Jenna celebrates her B-day a day before mine so it was a grape fit just a few days before the real deal.

We sampled some delicious vinos, and some not so. I purchased a few bottles and had a great time. In preparation for the festivities, I thought I would have a matchy mani. I decided to go for the plastic bag technique. It proved a bit rough, but I like what I ended up with. I started with one coat of Sinful Snow Me White then blobbed on Nina Ultra Pro Sweet Nothings, Orly You're Blushing and Julep Anne then used a sandwich bag to try and moosh them together. Next time, I won't use white as a base because you see where I blatantly missed the bus.
Once dry, I stamped with Claire's Bubble Gum scented holo purple polish and the grapes complete with vine from konad plate m55. Salut!

My Version of Butter London Knackered

Many moons ago I dropped Essence Where is the Party? in my basket. I then wandered upon Butter London Knackered. The dear hubby was like, aren't these the same? I thought, OMFG no way sir! But then it dawned on me, if I added a holo topcoat to Where is the Party? they may just be close.

I started with two coats of Where is the Party?, a purple green duochrome. I then stamped the unicorn image from m28 and Sinful Snow Me White on my middle and index fingers. I then stamped the stars from plate mls301. Lastly, I added one thick coat of Out the Door Northern Lights.
